Actress Daisy Ridley, who was nervous to work in J.J. Abrams's forthcoming film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", said she sat down for a cup of coffee with actor Harrison Ford when they first met.

Ford is essaying Han Solo in the film, which releases on December 25. It's a character he has played before.

"When I first met Harrison, we just sat down for a coffee together. He was talking about his experience in the whole thing, not just Han Solo, but the 'Star Wars' saga. Then we all had dinner together, which was great," Ridley said in a statement.

The actress also shared that director Abrams helped her out immensely, despite the pressure of an ensemble cast and the huge expectations.

"J.J. is amazing. I've never really been on a film set before, and everyone adores him. He's very kind, very generous. He was so great at the beginning because I was so nervous.

"He's so patient, which is really important for me because I spent a lot of time going, I can't do this. He made sure everyone on set was feeling great. There have been so many moments when he's gotten on the mic and told everyone that the work they're doing is incredible, which it is," she said.

Stressing that in a big film like "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", it's hard to build a personal rapport. But Ridley said that Abrams praised the cast and crew and made everybody feel special.

"Everyone feels appreciated. That is so important. He's created this incredible world, and in the real world he's this incredible man as well," she said.

Ridley, who essays the role of Rey in the film, has acted in TV shows like "Mr. Selfridge", "Toast of London" and "Casualty".
