Punjabi pop singer Daler Mehndi and four leaders from various political parties were Friday officially inducted into the Congress here.
Among those admitted to the Congress were: two sitting MLAs Ram Singh Netaji (Bahujan Samaj Party) from Badarpur and Asif Mohammad Khan (Rashtriya Janata Dal) from Okhla, former Nationalist Congress Party legislator Ram Singh Bidhuri, and ex-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillor V.K. Monga. They joined the party in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
According to Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Jai Prakash Agarwal, more leaders from other political parties were willing to join the Congress.
"We are in talks and more senior leaders from other parties will be joining us soon," he said.
Elections to the Delhi assembly are scheduled in November.
According to the ABP News-Nielsen Mood of the Nation survey Thursday, the BJP is likely to get 32 of the 70 assembly seats while the ruling Congress will win 27 seats.
