The World Gold Council on Tuesday said it has appointed President and Chief Executive of Franco-Nevada Corporation David Harquail as its new Chairman.
The company said Harquail has succeeded Randall Oliphant, who served as the Chairman for the past four years.
"Looking ahead, David brings a wealth of knowledge and industry experience, which will greatly benefit our work in unlocking investment markets which have not previously viewed gold as a mainstream asset. I am very much looking forward to working closely with him as our new Chair," Aram Shishmanian, World Gold Council Chief Executive, said in a statement.
David Harquail has led Franco-Nevada -- leading gold-focused royalty and streaming company -- since 2007. He previously held senior executive roles at Newmont Mining Corporation, the statement added.
