Former talk show host David Lettermans mother Dorothy Mengering has died. She was 95.
Mengering was well-known to her son's audience and used to appear on Letterman's shows like "Late Night" and "Late Show".
A spokesperson for Letterman confirmed the news and stated that she died on Tuesday night, reports variety.com.
She made her first appearance on "Late Night" in 1986, and frequent return visits later leading up to Thanksgiving Days and Mother's Days. She appeared often via satellite from Letterman's home.
Born on July 18, 1921, in Linton, Indiana, Mengering also was a "Late Show" correspondent at three Winter Olympics in 1994, 1998, and 2002. In 1996, Mengering published a cookbook with writer Jess Cagle titled "Home Cookin' With Dave's Mom".
