Day-care centre for elderly women in Delhi

Another day-care centre for elderly women was launched here to keep them occupied, an NGO said Wednesday.

"The Humjoli Day-Care Centre will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Qutub institutional area. We will collect a nominal fee of Rs.1,000 per year from each elderly woman. The centre is focused to give space for middle-class elderly woman who are 60 and above," said Mohini Giri, chairman and founder of NGO Guild for Service.

There are an estimated 7.26 crore elderly women in India. In 2011, their number was 5.03 crore.
