South Africa captain AB de Villiers will not feature in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh after he was permitted to go on paternity leave on Wednesday, while pacers Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander have been rested for One-Day Internationals (ODIs).
De Villiers, who has been granted leave for the birth of his first child with wife Danielle will, however, be back for the ODIs, reports espncricinfo.
The wicketkeeper-batsman's absence in the five-day format will end a run of 98 Tests, the fifth-longest stretch behind Allan Border (153), Alastair Cook (111), Mark Waugh (107) and Sunil Gavaskar (106).
South Africa have named four uncapped players -- batsman Reeza Hendricks, wicketkeeper Dane Vilas, left-arm spinner Aaron Phangiso and Under-19 fast bowler Kagiso Rabada -- in the Test squad.
All four have played in limited overs cricket for the Proteas but have not featured in a Test.
Fast bowlers Rabada, Chris Morris and all-rounder Ryan McLaren have been picked in the ODI outfit. Leg-spinner Eddie Leie, 22, has been named in the T20 squad that does not include Steyn, Morne Morkel and Imran Tahir.
