Over 35 people were killed on Monday when deadly airstrikes mistakenly hit a wedding party in Yemen's Taiz province.

Multiple airstrikes conducted by the Saudi-led Arab coalition pounded a wedding ceremony that was organised inside two large celebration halls in Wahga village in Mocha city, a local official said.

A resident told Xinhua news agency "the number of people who were killed and injured reached to 75 due to the brutal Saudi-led airstrikes on a wedding part in Mocha".

"Two wedding halls, one for women and the other for men, were completely destroyed by missiles. Bodies now were scattered in the area," the resident added.

Monday's incident came just one day after helicopters of the Saudi-led coalition shelled several houses in Hajjeh province, killing at least 28 civilians and injuring 17 others.

Health officials said the toll was likely to increase and the victims included women and children.
