The Tihar Jail authorities Friday informed the fast track court hearing Dec 16 gang rape case that accused Akshay Thakur's phone and visit facility has been withdrawn, as a punishment after he used abusive language and misbehaved with the jail officials.
The jail authority submitted, in court, its "punishment ticket" issued against Thakur, stating that his visit rights and phone facility were withdrawn for two weeks.
Thakur Thursday alleged that jail officials and inmates had beaten him on his chest, following which court directed the jail authorities to get him medically examined.
The notice submitted in the court said that Thakur, taken out from his barrack on May 9 about 10.30 p.m. and brought to the jail dispensary for sending him to a hospital for medical check-up after the court's order, misbehaved with jail officials.
"While he was being escorted to jail dispensary by on-duty warders, he used abusive language and misbehaved with the jail officials. The act of Thakur is strictly against the jail discipline and punishable as per Delhi Jail Manual. He may be punished accordingly," the notice read.
"His visitation rights and phone facilities are to be withdrawn for two weeks," it added.
Thakur is in judicial custody along with other co-accused in the gang-rape, in which a 23-year-old woman was brutally tortured and gang-raped in a moving bus. She later died in a Singapore hospital.
