India added another medal to its tally in the 5th Asian Beach Games here on Sunday with Deepa Gawale winning a silver in the womens single, Long Ho Quyen, Vovinam event.
Deepa lost to Manik Trisna of Indonesia who scored 275 points while Deepa totalled 267 points to settle for the silver. Vietnam and Japan secured the third place with 261 points.
Vovinam, a Vietnamese art, is a combination of events with and without weapons. Both attack and defence techniques are trained as well as forms, combat and traditional Vietnamese wrestling.
The Indian delegation has so far bagged 21 medals (one gold, four silver and 16 bronze). A 208-member Indian contingent is participating in 13 different disciplines at the Games.
The Vovinam event has 13 competitors from India who have so far bagged one silver medal in the discipline.
