Facing controversy over his educational qualification, Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Delhi Cantonment area Surender Singh on Tuesday said though his degrees were not fake he would court arrest before Delhi Police.
Addressing a press conference here along with AAP leader Sanjay Singh, Surender Singh said there was "just a technical error" related to his degree but it was not fake.
"There is just a technical error. Instead of my Eiilm University (Eastern Institute for Integrated learning in Management), which is in Sikkim, the Sikkim University got printed on the affidavit. My degrees are not fake," he said.
"They did not realise my degree is fake when I was fighting for the nation in Kargil and in 26/11 but as soon as I joined Aam Aadmi Party, my 'fake' degrees came to limelight," Surender Singh added.
Sanjay Singh said Surender Singh would meet Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi later on Tuesday. "Police need not toil hard to arrest AAP MLAs, we will court arrest at his office."
The Delhi High Court on Monday gave Surender Singh the last opportunity to file a response to BJP leader Karan Singh Tanwar's petition over his allegedly furnishing false information about his educational qualification in a poll affidavit.

The high court has asked Surender Singh to file his reply to the petition by August 6.
Tanwar in his petition said Surender Singh "misrepresented himself to be B.A. in 2012 from Sikkim University... which amounts to corrupt practice within the meaning of the Representation of the People Act".
Surender Singh is the second AAP legislator - after erstwhile Delhi law minister Jitender Singh Tomar - to face allegations over educational qualifications.
