Delhi Finance Secretary Shakti Sinha, who once served as joint secretary to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Sunday said he has sought voluntary retirement from service due to personal reasons.
"I was in service for the past 35 years. I wanted to do something new and out of the government... that is the reason I have applied for voluntary retirement," Sinha, 55, told IANS over phone.
He said "the decision is personal and I have no purported difference with the government".
Sinha, who also holds charge of the power portfolio, earlier worked with the UN mission in Afghanistan and with the World Bank.
