Footwear, furniture and CCTV cameras worth more than Rs.5 crore gutted in a major fire that broke out in a three-storey footwear godown in west Delhi on Friday morning, Delhi fire service said. No one injured in the blaze.
The fire was reported around 10.35 a.m. from Mangolpuri area.
According to Delhi Fire Service, over 30 fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the flames could be brought under control by 3.00 p.m.
"We have managed to douse the blaze, but the cooling operation is still on. No one was injured in the fire. But goods in the three-storey godown and its basement were completely gutted," said a fire service official.
The cause of the fire, the official said, is yet to be ascertained but it seems that electrical short-circuiting set off the massive fire.
Police said that furniture, CCTV cameras, footwear materials and some other valuables worth approximately Rs.5 crore were destroyed in the fire.
