Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal on Monday said he was surprised to hear Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's claim that the city government was kept in the dark about works on traffic bottlenecks in the city.

The Lt Governor was referring to a letter written by Kejriwal to him on July 6, in which the Chief Minister assured his complete cooperation for resolution of traffic bottlenecks, but said that he and his ministers had no knowledge of the entire matter.

"A copy of the minutes of this meetings (on removal of traffic bottlenecks) too was endorsed to the Secretary to Transport Minister," said the official statement by Baijal's office.

Referring to another meeting on the issue, the statement further said that "the Minister (UD/PWD) not only attended this meeting but also gave useful suggestions".

Baijal said he was surprised that the Chief Minister and his Ministers did not have any knowledge of the issue, despite a lot of work having been done in the last six months and the "the Minister attending meetings or being informed from time to time and the issue getting a lot of media coverage".

He also said that he wholeheartedly welcomes the Chief Minister's offer of full cooperation to remove traffic bottlenecks in the city.
