Amid controversy over the appointment of Shakuntala Gamlin as the acting chief secretary, the AAP government in Delhi on Saturday ordered the removal of Principal Secretary (Services) Anindo Majumdar from his position.
However, Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung termed his removal ab-initio void.
"This (order) doesn't have the approval of the LG, who is the competent authority to transfer officials of that rank," said a press statement from Raj Bhavan.
The Aam Aadmi Party government had earlier in the day issued an order to remove Majumdar that said: "Majumdar has been removed from all his charges. He will remain without any responsibilities."
Majumdar had issued orders for Gamlin's appointment.
