Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Sunday summoned the commissioners of all three municipal corporations in the national capital over complaints about lack of fumigation or delay in ensuring the same in several areas.

The move comes after the city government received a number of complaints from residents and traders that staff of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) do not visit their homes and market areas for fumigation.

"In view of the rise in number of complaints by people, the health minister has tomorrow (Monday) summoned commissioners of all three civic bodies," said a government official.

Jain may seek a report on the rise in dengue cases in the national capital, the official added.

Earlier on Sunday, Jain made a surprise visit at three government hospitals -- Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, Ambedkar Hospital and Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital -- to review the dengue preparedness there.

"The health minister was satisfied with the hospitals' dengue preparedness," the official said.

Jain also held a meeting with the health secretary, the divisional commissioner and directors of local bodies and directed the officials to buy 1,000 new beds to accommodate dengue patients at the government hospitals.

The Delhi government on Saturday issued show-cause notice to five private hospitals following the tragic suicide by parents of a seven-year-old boy who died due to suspected dengue after he was allegedly denied admission for treatment.
