Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung Tuesday postponed sealing of industrial units running in residential areas on request of the city's three municipal corporations, a corporation official said.
A seven-member delegation of mayors of North, South and East Delhi Municipal Corporations and other leaders met Jung and requested that sealing be postponed till proper survey of the units is done.
"Lt. Governor has agreed to our request till we ascertain the actual position of the units. The sealing is deferred till it is confirmed whether they are still running in violation of the norms and the relocated places have been provided with basic infrastructure," said North Delhi Municipal Corporation mayor Yogender Chandolia.
According to the corporation, such units are running in residential places like Karol Bagh in west Delhi, Paharganj in central Delhi and other areas of Delhi.
Chandolia also detailed the plight of some owners who have changed their industries to production units permitted to be run in residential areas but have no respite from sealing.
