"The fare fixation committee has been appointed by the urban development ministry. The committee will take time to conduct a detailed study. It is likely to come out with a report in four to five months," said Delhi Metro Managing Director Mangu Singh.

Delhi Metro last increased its fares in November 2009. The minimum fare was increased from Rs.6 to 8 and the maximum from Rs.22 to 30.

The Metro daily ferries nearly 1.8 million passengers over 2,700 trips.
