Delhi Police has arrested five persons for kidnapping a youth for ransom here, police said on Monday.

Police said the accused, identified as Naim, 27, Bhim, 30, Anil Kumar Yadav, 35, Mangli 38, and Rahisuddin, 45, were unemployed and residents of Uttar Pradesh and New Delhi. The victim, Sohal Hasmhi, 26, was rescued from their clutches.

An home-made pistol, two cartridges and a mobile phone which they used for making ransom calls were recovered from their possession.

"The kidnappers used to lure people by giving advertisements in newspapers offering Rs 25,000 for escorting Indian and foreign females per day. When the victims contacted them after seeing the ad, they called him for a deal to Hapur in Uttar Pradesh," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rishipal.

When the victim reached there, they kidnapped him and made a ransom call for Rs 10 lakh, Rishipal added.

Police arrested the kidnappers from Mohamadpur village in Hapur district.

The victim worked as a salesman in a mobile phone shop at Palika Bazar in New Delhi. His mother, a resident of Bihari Colony in East district, had filed a police complaint on September 10 at Farash Bazar Police Station.
