Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi on Monday met Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung ahead of meeting Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the deteriorating law and order situation in the city.
Talking to reporters after meeting Jung, Bassi termed it a "routine weekly meeting".
"We discussed the law and order scenario and strategies to make Delhi better," he said. "Police is accountable to system and not any individual. We adhere by the Gita that is our Constitution and various laws which govern policing in Delhi."
About Delhi government's criticism of police over law and order, Bassi said: "I take criticism in a positive spirit, even if it is wrong."
On Saturday, Kejriwal requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi "to take out an hour every week to discuss law and order issues in Delhi or he should hand over Delhi Police to us, and we will set things straight".
He made the appeal after visiting family of Meenakshi, a Class 11 student, who was been stabbed to death by two neighbours for objecting to their verbal abuse last Thursday in central Delhi's Anand Parbat area.
