A 30-year-old Delhi Police constable was shot dead Monday night by an unidentified assailant, police said Tuesday.
Karamveer was patrolling near Jhangola village in west Delhi's Alipur with a Delhi Police home guard when he received information that some people in the area were trying to smuggle liquor.
"Minutes later he saw two men on a motorcycle with a carton of liquor bottles and gave chase. The pillion rider shot at him (Karamveer) and the bullet pierced through his chest," said a police official.
The constable was rushed to a hospital in Narela but succumbed to his injury.
The police is trying to ascertain the identity of the assailants.
