A 35-year-old Delhi Police officer was Thursday attacked by three people, including a woman, in an incident of road rage here, police said.

Amit Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police in the Special Cell, was going to his office when his car was hit by another car in Nizamuddin area around 4.30 p.m.

"Singh's car was hit by a car being driven by a young man. The man was with his parents. Singh's driver got down from the car and had an argument with the man and his parents," said an official.

Singh, who was not in uniform, tried to intervene but was attacked with a helmet, iron rod and stones by the man and his parents.

Singh sustained injuries on his nose, head and face. He was rushed to the AIIMS trauma centre, where he is stated to be out of danger.

"All three people have been arrested," said the official.
