A total of 680 metric tonnes fish has been produced in the national capital in this year so far, said a government official Sunday.

Besides, 18.25 lakh fish seeds have also been produced, the official said.

With 15 nursery ponds, the Delhi government's fisheries department has identified 24 water bodies for fish production in north-west district, and these will be auctioned.

The fisheries unit of the government is encouraging fish culture in the capital to overcome the problem of encroachment of water bodies.

Under the Delhi Land Reforms Act, 1954, panchayats have to develop activities such as poultry farming and fishery.
