The Delhi Police busted a syndicate of illegal arms suppliers and manufacturers and arrested the brother of syndicate kingpin, a police officer said on Wednesday.

According to the police, Mani Singh was working for his brother Richpal, who was manufacturing illegal arms and supplying these to criminals in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana. TMhe police recovered 20 sophisticated pistols with five live cartridges from his possession.

"Police teams arrested Mani Singh after intercepting his car following a tip-off on Tuesday night, while he was coming to deliver a huge consignment of weapons to buyers of western Uttar Pradesh at Azadpur in North Delhi," Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav.

Singh told investigators during interrogation that his brother Richpal is a manufacturer and supplier of illegal weapons on large scale and enticed him to join the trade only in Madhya Pradesh since five years, Yadav said.

"Singh said that after the arrest of his carriers earlier by the police, Richpal tasked him to deliver the illegal arms outside Madhya Pradesh. His syndicate has been supplying weapons to various persons of criminal backgrounds in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and other states," he added.

In December last year, three persons of Richpal's syndicate were arrested from Delhi.
