Power from a solar power plant to be set up near the Delhi Secretariat would be made available to Delhi at Rs.5 per unit for the next 25 years, New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah said Thursday.

Abdullah met Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to consider a 5 MW (megawatt) solar power generation facility near the secretariat to meet the 2.5 MW daily demand of the entire complex.

Dikshit assured him that her government would soon identify a piece of land for it.

Abdullah said that solar power facility would be commissioned on the lines of Chhattisgarh model at the secretariat complex in Raipur.

"Out of 5 MW solar power, balance 2.5 MW could be transferred into the grid," he said.
