The Delhi government would soon set up fast-track courts and implement the recommendations of the Justice J.S. Verma Committee for ensuring speedy justice to the victims of sexual assault, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said here on Sunday.

Talking on the International Women's Day, Sisodia said the Delhi legislators and state government officials would be trained about the issues concerning women's safety.

Setting up fast-track courts was one of the poll promises made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), while the Justice Verma Committee recommended amendments to the Criminal Law for quicker trial and enhanced punishment for those accused of committing sexual assault against women.

"The Delhi government will organise orientation programmes for MLAs and senior officers of the government as well as for the volunteers in all the parts of the capital to train them for safeguarding the interests of women and for ensuring their safety in the society," said a statement quoting Sisodia.
