Dengue cases in Delhi cross 2,000-mark

The number of dengue cases in the national capital climbed to 2,124 Monday, up from 1,729 Thursday, an official said. There were no new deaths.

"There are a total of 2,124 cases and three people have died from dengue so far this year," said municipal health officer N.K. Yadav.

Of the total cases, 2,092 patients are from Delhi and 32 belong to adjoining states.

The north, south and east corporations reported 1,026, 540 and 435 cases, respectively.

The victims who have succumbed to the virus, as confirmed by municipal authorities, are Phool Singh, 47, of west Delhi's Ashok Nagar, Priyanka Shankar, 21, of north Delhi's Pratap Nagar and Priya Jha, 6, of south Delhi's Okhla.

 

Last year, 2,093 dengue cases were reported in Delhi, a majority of them being reported in October and November.
