Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Wednesday urged the people to learn from children whose involvement in plantation drives has resulted in the capital's increased green cover.

The chief minister claimed that Delhi is the greenest capital in the world and its forest cover has grown from two percent to 22 percent.

"The credit goes to school children and eco-clubs. Society should learn from children who have been involved in plantation drives for more than 10 years," Dikshit said while inaugurating a plantation drive at Kondli in east Delhi.

Around 300 school children joined Dikshit in planting saplings in the area, where 5,000 sapling would be planted.

Dikshit said Delhi has developed 40 city forests which are "lungs" of the capital.
