The Appellate Tribunal for Electricity Wednesday directed the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) not to to pass the final order in the matter of suspension of licences of BSES discoms as sought by the Aam Aadmi Party government.

The Appellate Tribunal for Electricity has jurisdiction to take up power-related disputes across the country as per provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003.

The Delhi government has recommended to the DERC the suspension of licences of two discoms (BSES Rajdhani Power Limited and BSES Yamuna Power Limited) over their financial outstandings to NTPC, which has threatened to stop providing power to these companies unless the dues are paid.
