Noting that the world is facing the prospect of jobless growth, Bharti group Chairman Sunil Mittal on Tuesday said disparities have increased significantly in the last decade, which is being reflected in voter behaviour.

"Disparities have increased in the last 10 years, and the people who feel that are the voters," Mittal said, while addressing a session on future of big businesses at the World Economic Forum annual meeting here.

He also said that philanthropy helps companies to be regarded favourably by the consumers. Being a philanthropic business is a "matter of heart" but it also means consumers view you more favourably.

Among other issues, industry leaders at this session also deliberated on the fact that less than 10 per cent of the world's public companies account for 80 per cent of all profits and what this implies for competition, collaboration and innovation.
