BS Reporter New Delhi
Leading real estate firm DLF on Thursday deposited Rs 100 crore in the Supreme Court registry, on the eve of the hearing of its appeal on Friday against the order of the Competition Commission of India directing it to pay Rs 680 crore as penalty for abuse of dominant position. It had deposited Rs 50 crore earlier. However, it has pleaded inability to pay the whole penalty within the deadline which fell on Wednesday due to financial crunch.

Harish Salve, senior counsel for the firm, submitted before a bench headed by Justice Anil Dave it wanted to show its bona fides by paying whatever was possible within time. The main challenge to the order of the CCI and the Competition Appellate Tribunal order upholding the CCI order, will be heard on Friday. It has reportedly offered to pledge land in lieu of the outstanding amount.
