Doctor kidnapped for ransom in Ghaziabad

A doctor was kidnapped for ransom here, police said Friday. The doctor's wife received a ransom call for Rs.50 lakh.

The doctor, Harpal Singh Shishodia, was kidnapped Thursday while he was going to a market. When he did not return till late night, his family began searching for him. He had left his mobile phone at home, his wife said.

She received a call on the doctor's phone at 11 a.m. Friday. The caller asked her to arrange for Rs.50 lakh for her husband's release and not to inform police.

"On her complaint, we have registered a case. The call was made from Khurja town under Bulandshahr district in Uttar Pradesh," Ghaziabad Senior Suprintendent of Police Nitin Tiwari told IANS.
