Former actress and singer Doris Day says she was surprised when she got to know that she has turned 95, while she thought that she is 93.
The discrepancy in her age came to light when a copy of Day's birth certificate showed that she was born on April 3, 1922 and not in 1924, reports dailymail.co.uk.
Day, who turned 95 on Monday, took the situation lightly and said she had never "paid much attention" to her age.
"I've always said that age is just a number and I have never paid much attention to birthdays, but it's great to finally know how old I really am," Day said in a statement.
The mystery as to how the mix up occurred was unravelled after a copy of Day's birth certificate was released from Ohio's Office of Vital Statistics in the US. It showed she was born as Doris Mary Kappelhoff in 1922.
Her spokesman Charley Cullen Walters said Day's age had been wrongly recorded at an early audition and was never corrected, dailymail.co.uk reported.

"There has long been speculation and rumours about Doris's age and we get this question a lot, looks like we finally have the answer," Walters said.
"The story I have heard the most is that at one point Doris was up for a role when quite young and her age may have been mis-written on the audition form. We don't know if that's correct, but if so it could've simply stuck for all these years," Walters added.
