TV host Ellen DeGeneres, who voices Dory in Disney Pixar's forthcoming animation feature "Finding Dory", says everyone can relate to the character's journey.
"Dory is trying to find her family and she wants to belong. It is something she is emotional about, and it is something everyone relates with. Family is something that takes care of you and nurtures you and when you have lost that, and you want to get that back, it's pretty easy to get emotional about it," DeGeneres said in a statement.
However, voicing the character wasn't entirely a serious affair for DeGeneres.
"It was fun, too, because when you are acting in a regular film, you have facial expressions or different mannerisms or the way you stand or tilt your head or anything that expresses emotion, but when it's just your voice, it really all has to come through," she said.
"Especially when it's a fish. It's important to get those emotions very purely across, and especially something as subtle as not full-on crying, but that kind of sadness or grief... I love a challenge like that," DeGeneres added.
