A Maoist carrying a bounty of Rs two lakh on his head on Tuesday surrendered in Jharkhand's Khuti district, police said.
Mahendra Munda of the Communist Party of India-Maoist surrendered before Deputy Inspector General of Police Amol V. Homkar at Khuti. Mundahad had joined the group in 2011.
"I had joined the CPI-Maoist group by getting influenced by their ideology. Now the group has strayed from its ideology," Munda told the media.
He was wanted in more than seven cases in bordering districts of Khuti. So far at least 60 militants have surrendered in the state in the last three years.
