A joint drive against people who have encroached city roads will be taken up from February 1, Lt Governor Anil Baijal said on Friday.

The decision was taken at a meeting on removal of encroachment on 29 corridors in the city.

Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Satyendar Jain, the Commissioners of the three city municipal corporations and top police officials took part in the meeting.

"Initially, the joint drives would be undertaken twice a week in each MCD zone. A minimum of three-five kilometres of a road stretch of the 29 corridors is to be covered in the joint drive," an official statement read.

Also, Baijal asked traffic police officers to take strict action against four wheelers and goods vehicles not following lane rules and buses not sticking to designated bus lanes on the 29 corridors.
