Two members of an interstate gang of drug peddlers have been arrested and 9 kg hashish valued at Rs 90 lakh seized from them, the city police said on Wednesday.

The arrested men were involved in supplying the contraband at rave parties in Delhi, National Capital Region, Mumbai and West Bengal, the police said.

Truck driver Mohammad Arif, 26, is a native of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir and Mashiar Rahaman Mondal, 52, hails from West Bengal. Both have been arrested.

They were arrested on Tuesday night following a tip-off when Mondal arrived at the Singhu Border on the Grand Trunk Road to collect the consignment from Arif, Deputy Commissioner of Police P.S. Kushwah said.

Arif told the police he had brought the narcotics in a bag hidden in his truck parked near Singhu border. The truck has been seized.

"Arif told police he met Kashmiri druglord Gulam Hassan in March and joined him in trafficking hashish (cannabis derivative) from Kashmir to other states and was paid Rs 5,000 for smuggling per kg of the contraband," the officer said.

"He earlier supplied around 60 kg hashish in Delhi, NCR and West Bengal. The seized contraband was meant to be supplied at rave parties in the region," the DCP added.

A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act had been registered against the arrested men.
