A newly-launched e-portal will help in the submission, surveillance and follow-up of developmental projects in the northeast, a minister said on Thursday.

Minister of State for the Development of the Northeastern Region (DoNER) Jitendra Singh said the portal will help monitor projects falling under the ministry's Non-lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR).

His comments came when Nagaland Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang called on him, according to an official statement.

Singh said the portal has special relevance for the DoNER ministry as it is a region-based ministry and projects are submitted by the eight states of the northeast.

The portal, he said, will also help avoid complaints regarding delays or extraneous considerations like corruption.

Stating that his ministry has stakes in all other ministries of the central government, the DoNER minister said that the new portal will help in keeping track of various stages of project activities among different departments and ministries and the planning departments of the northeastern state governments.

In order to overcome delays, the portal will be programmed to send automatic computerised reminders to the state governments and others concerned, Singh told Zeliang.

According to Singh, the portal will help in the surveillance of financial, physical and visual progress for timely completion of projects.

Singh and Zeliang also discussed various other issues related to the development of Nagaland as well as the current political scenario in the state.
