Aiming to "Digitally Transform" West Bengal, Computer Association of Eastern India (Compass) has scheduled east India's biggest computer fair in mid February next year in association with Nasscom, an association official said.

"In lines with the digitisation drive initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have decided to involve all industry sectors and digitally transform the landscape within our ambit," Compass president Pawan Jajodia told IANS.

With industry's representative body Nasscom on board to support the digitisation initiative in the east, the computer association is in talks with CeBIT and industry chamber CII for their support. Also, it is in talks with Taiwan to finalise them as the country partner.

Expecting a footfall of 50,000, Compass is keen to attract the industry vertical and the youth.

"Software and solutions are the key lines of business and companies are fast adopting IT practices. We are confident of attracting the enterprise and the SMB segment with our aim of industry collaborations," Jajodia said.

Compass has been collaborating with industry associations for over five years in its various initiatives to spread the computer awareness in east India and had recently participated in Bangalore ITE Biz.

Explaining the motto of digital transformation, Jajodia said: "Digital transformation is about getting things digitized and the adoption of information technology (IT) in all facades of life. With Modi's vision of promoting IT, we are optimistic about the opportunity in the market in coming years."
