The Election Commission on Thursday asked the state Education Boards of poll-bound Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh to frame their annual examination schedule with consultation with it to avoid any clash with the polling dates.
The Assembly elections in these states are expected to be held in the first half of the next year, which coincides with the annual examination schedule.
"The Election Commission is in the advanced stage of considering a suitable schedule for holding the said general elections... The Commission wants that there is no clash between the programmes of the elections and the examination schedules," said an official release.
