Ahead of the second phase of Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal, Election Commission-appointed special observer for the state, Sudhir Kumar Rakesh Sunday said strict action will taken against those filing false and frivolous complaints.

Rakesh, during the day held a meeting with officials before the April 24 polls in six parliamentary seats spread across the Murshidabad, Malda, North Dinajpur and South Dinajpur districts.

"All EC officials have been instructed to look into all complaints diligently and dispose them as expeditiously as possible. But that doesn't mean we will go only by the complaint itself. If there is anything to suggest that the report is false or frivolous then very strict action will be taken," he said.

Rakesh also rubbished claims that central paramilitary forces were not properly utilised during the first phase of polls in the state held April 17.

Both the Congress and the Left Front had accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of adopting terror tactics and alleged that central paramilitary forces were not deployed properly during the polls in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar in northern West Bengal.
