The Election Commission on Friday joined hands with the Indian Railways to utilise four long distance trains for creating awareness among voters about the Lok Sabha elections.
The four trains selected on the longest north-south and east-west routes are Kerala Express, Himsagar Express, Howrah Express and Guwahati Express, an Election Commission official said.
The trains would display important contact details including the voter helpline number and information about the National Voters Services Portal besides motivational messages urging people to vote.
Indian Railways has one of the largest networks in the world carrying, on an average, 22.24 million passengers and 3.04 million tonnes of freight each day.
While Kerala Express and Howrah Express are daily trains, Himsagar Express and Guwahati Express are weekly trains.
