The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has chargesheeted 12 people, including a former Punjab Minister and his son, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act in a multi-million-rupee drugs racket.
The ED chargesheet was submitted in the court of a special judge in Mohali, adjoining Chandigarh, on Wednesday. The 12 have been chargesheeted.
The chargesheet is against former Shiromani Akali Dal Minister Swaran Singh Phillaur, his son Damanbir Singh, former Chief Parliamentary Secretary Avinash Chander, businessman Jagjit Singh Chahal and Paramjit Singh Chahal and seven others, including three women.
The 12 had amassed properties and assets worth crores of rupees from unaccounted money, revealed the ED investigation.
It launched an investigation into them and eight companies after Punjab Police busted a multi-million-rupee international drugs racket in Punjab in 2012.
