Eddie Murphy to be honoured at Hollywood Film Awards

Actor-comedian Eddie Murphy will be honoured with the Hollywood Career Achievement Award at the 20th annual Hollywood Film Awards on November 6 here.

"Eddie Murphy has had a spectacular career as a comedian, actor, writer, producer and director, spanning more than 35 years," said Allen Shapiro, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, reports variety.com.

"We look forward to honouring his extraordinary body of work," Shapiro added.

The event will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel here.

Past honourees of the award include Robert De Niro, Glenn Close, Harrison Ford, Richard Gere, Dustin Hoffman, Michael Keaton, and Robin Williams.

Murphy broke into show business in 1980 as a cast member on "Saturday Night Live" and starred in his first movie two years later in "48 Hrs". He received Golden Globe Award nominations for his performances in "Beverly Hills Cop", "Trading Places", "The Nutty Professor" and "48 Hrs".

 

He was last seen on screen in "Mr. Church", which released in September earlier this year.
