Edelweiss Group extends help to Dutee Chand

Edelweiss Group, a diversified financial services conglomerate, has extended help to sprinter Dutee Chand, the first Indian woman to compete in the 100-metre event at Rio Olympics after almost 36 years.

"The team at Edelweiss Tokio Life insurance (ETLI) recently extended a helping hand to the reigning national champion in women's 100 meter, Dutee Chand," said a release.

The ETLI team chanced upon a story by IANS, wherein Dutee mentioned that she did not have the right running spike shoes for the Olympics.

The Edelweiss team got in touch with Dutee to deliver the spike shoes and accessories to a smiling Dutee at her training academy in Hyderabad, it added.

 

Presently, Dutee is in Rio to compete in the 100-meter event.

In an interview to IANS, Dutee had said that she did not have a pair of spike shoes and track suits to run on the track.
