The Eden Gardens here Friday got a giant clock, joining a select league of stadia like the Arsenal football club stadium and the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Named "Eden Time", the seven feet all-weather clock - a joint initiative by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and Seiko Watch India - has been placed in the middle tier of the B.C. Roy Club House, above the sight screen.

The clock was unveiled by CAB trustee board chairman Gautam Dasgupta and Seiko India president Atsushi Kaneko in the presence of former and current Bengal players.

The company has a similar clock at Barcelona FC's Nou Camp Stadium.

CAB treasurer Biswarup Dey said plans were afoot to set up a museum at the iconic ground.

"We have been planning to set up a museum displaying rare collection of sporting memorabilia and souvenirs of players from different times.

"We are working on the modalities and hope to secure permission from the army, which is the custodian of the ground," Dey told reporters.
