Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday welcomed village heads from his parliamentary constituency Varanasi here at his residence and urged them to work towards educating every girl child.
"During the interaction, the Prime Minister encouraged the village heads to work towards educating every girl child, and promoting Swacchta (sanitation) in their respective villages," an official statement said.
This was the second such group to meet the Prime Minister.
"He emphasised that there should be no discrimination between boys and girls and added that cleanliness, is the key to prosperity," the statement said.
Modi also urged each pradhan (head) to resolve to undertake specific development initiatives during his or her tenure, which would result in a lasting legacy, it added.
