Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi said on Thursday that the 2011 uprising that toppled former President Hosni Mubarak was the "wrong medicine for the wrong diagnosis", the media reported.

Sisi's comments came during his speech to the nation amid the celebrations of the October 6 anniversary that marked the Egyptian Army victory in its war against Israel in 1973.

"Those who mobilized the people and persuaded them that after someone leaves and another comes to power, everything will be changed... were wrong," Sisi said.

Sisi said mobilizing the people for pushing the regime after defeat of the armies in 1967 war could have caused another defeat.

He said that the war in 1973 against Israel was a "suicide, but the Egyptian brave soldiers made the victory".

The enemies of 1973 war were known but the current enemies are not, the President said, referring to terrorism which Egypt has been fighting over the past six years.
