The Eiffel Tower was evacuated Sunday afternoon after authorities received a threatening phone call, media reports said.

The 324-metre-high monument was evacuated around 3 p.m. but no further details were given by police, Xinhua reported citing some media reports.

The iconic tower was closed to the public for two hours Aug 9 for a false bomb alert. Another such incident this year took place March 30.
