Eight people were killed and 35 others wounded Saturday in a road accident in Bangladesh, police said.
Two passenger buses coming from opposite directions collided head-on, killing five people on the spot in Gobindaganj in the northwestern district of Gaibandha, around 270 km from Dhaka, police chief Sheikh Delwar Hossain told Xinhua.
Three more passengers died on the way to hospital, he said.
The cause of the accident was under investigation.
Bangladesh has one of the highest fatality rates for road accidents in the world, mainly due to bad roads, poorly-maintained vehicles, violation of traffic rules by inept drivers and lack of monitoring by the traffic department, the report said.
