At least eight people, including six policemen, were killed Monday by Taliban militants in Afghanistan, an official said.
"Taliban militants raided a security checkpoint in Gurziwall district in the northern Afghan province of Faryab at 2 a.m., leaving six policemen dead," district governor Abdul Raziq Kakar told Xinhua.
One policeman was missing following the attack, Kakar said.
In another attack, the same militants laid an ambush near a mosque, killing two pro-government local leaders, Kakar added.
